Join Nic Annette Miller and Mia Sanchez for an online participatory drawing workshop in American Sign Language (ASL) that will focus on The Drawing Center's 2020 exhibition Guo Fengyi: To See from a Distance, which was the first major institutional presentation of the Chinese artist’s work in the United States. Born in 1942 in Xi’an, Guo began making art in her late forties to alleviate her chronic pain. Guo developed a deeply personal and symbolically charged visual language through her qigong practice, an ancient Chinese wellness technique which combines coordinated movements, breathing, and meditation. In this workshop, participants will explore drawing through a method similar to Guo's unique practice.
Please note this workshop will be in ASL with no voice interpretation. It is free and open to the signing community. All ages are welcome.
